There is ongoing and growing research and investment towards medical wearables in the healthcare industry. Yet from our community observations, there also seems to be a lot of work required before it becomes a more reliable and acknowledged tool. Most of its research seems to focus on improving the capabilities of current medical devices by exploring new ways to collect data. Or the bettering system understanding of patient behavior. However, as it stands, the current uses of medical wearables are constrained by the technological limitations imposed on them. Essentially, a significant chunk of the data obtained by the wearables is manual inputs from the user, which isn’t always accurate and creates problems down the line. 

Recently, due to the pandemic, medical wearables are surging in popularity and becoming more known. Fitbits and smartwatches are the most popular types, but are not completely suitable for taking accurate measurements. There are more niche wearables, such as wearable ECG monitors and blood pressure monitors, that have a specific use in the health industry. But cannot be generalized to other uses such as symptom tracking or behavior history. There are also biosensors that can come in the form of clothing or implants, which hold the most potential to be used for a variety of purposes in healthcare. However, since the technology is still in its infancy there is still much research to be done before it can be used on a larger scale.

Our product, Tulio, is a medical wearable ring that connects to a healthcare application under the same name that is accessible  from any device. The Tulio Ring and application have the ability to track the user's everyday symptoms. Furthermore, the Tulio application provides users with even more essential features to enhance their healthcare experience. Such features are the ability to view their health insights in-depth, book appointments, search for healthcare professionals within various specialties, and communicate with their healthcare provider whenever, wherever. On the other end, healthcare professionals using the app can monitor all of their patient's symptoms and speak with all of them even if they're not in their office for a visit. Doing so brings users and their healthcare providers a closer connection from the convenience of everyone's everyday lives.
